Students can choose to submit their scores online and measure up with other MathLanders users in daily or weekly competitions. Standings are provided based on number of points accumulated by each student.

Correct answers are awarded certain number of points, depending on the difficulty of the solved quiz. Wrong answers are not penalized in points. Therefore, the daily and weekly competitions account only for the amount of work performed by the students, regardless of their grade, since the main purpose of the MathLanders program is to motivate students for more math work.

The daily contest ends at midnight Pacific Time - Pacific coast of North America. Therefore, the daily contest starts in Eastern Asia - Oceania (Australia, for example), when in North/South America, and even Europe, is still 'yesterday'. As such, MathLanders users from around the globe will score at different periods of time during the day, with early scorers from Eastern Asia and Oceania, mid-time scorers from Europe and Africa and late scorers from the Americas. If you are in Australia, when your day ends, the contest is still going. You have to wait until the day ends around the globe to see the final standings and figure out your final position in the standings for the day.
